Summer Homework Assignment Requirements

 

• Complete 5 or more well developed artworks.

• Utilize and fill up the space within all drawings and try to leave a ½” border on all four sides.

• Size must be between 9”x12” and 18”x24” paper.

• Each artwork needs to show at least of 5+ hours of work to receive a passing grade.

• You MUST do the required assignments.  This is a total of 5 or more finished pieces.  To help you better prepare your portfolio, it is highly recommended that you do a minimum of 7 pieces.

• All pieces should be fully resolved with a strong composition. In order to help you do this, it is required that you do 3-5 thumbnail sketches for each piece before starting your final. This will help you create stronger compositions.

• It is suggested that you use pencil for at least half of the assignments.  You may use pencil and/or other materials including mixed media for the rest. Use quality materials.

• At least 3 of your pieces need to be drawn from observation.

• Spend a minimum of 5-6 hours on each piece (*this is the weekly requirement throughout the course).  Most high quality pieces will take longer than this!

• Upon review of completed Summer Homework assignments, you may be asked to rework or redo a piece to improve it.

• Please arrive to our first week of class with a positive attitude and a willingness to receive and employ constructive feedback for improvements from your AP peers and myself.
