Explore this page for AP Portfolio examples, look at samples of student work from previous years in each of the portfolio sections; Quality, Concentration, and Breadth. Specifically look at the various Concentration portfolios that students have done to see how they created a series of work based on one concept.

Suggested Art Supply List for AP
• An Art Bin(like a fishing tackle box)to organize and transport art supplies
• A Small - Medium Sketchbook-spiralbound preferred
• A set of Prismacolor colored pencils (12+)
• 1 Acrylic Paint Set (with lots of colors)and 1 Oil Paint Set plus Odorless Mineral Spirits and Liquin(small)
• Quality flat and round brushes of diff. sizes for oils
POSSIBLE EXTRAS:
Drawing Board with Clips, Portfolio (18x24"), Pencil Sharpener, Ruler


Go Shopping for Art Supplies!
There is a $40 Art Supply Fee to cover the cost of shared classroom supplies and quality papers and canvas panels. However, it is helpful for AP students to purchase the materials on the supplies list below. Experiment with the suggested supplies and any other supplies you have. Keep your failures as well as successes. Don’t throw anything away!

QUARTER 1--Due by end of QTR 1
Gallery or Art Exhibition Review
Explore one or more galleries and share your thoughts with each other in class.
Address these areas: Name, title, location, general info.
Describe, react & share your overall experience; reflect on the overall body of work shown
Discuss 2 or more specific pieces that affected you both positively or negatively. Create a journal entry: Include printed images/text as well as your own descriptive drawings/ writing of the gallery/exhibition. Use as many pages as needed in your sketchbook/journal.
AP REQUIREMENTS -In addition to your Breadth and Concentration Portfolios.
1. AP INVESTIGATION SKETCHBOOK
You are required to keep a sketchbook and use it to document your artmaking process from start to finish. It comprises 45% of your final grade!
Here you will: Brainstorm ideas for concepts, include reference photos, sketch compositional thumbnails, experiment with media and color palettes, and create preliminary studes of the final piece of art for each new project.
2. Attend at least one Mon/Fri Workshop Series
During first semester I will be hosting a series of 2-3 day workshops to expand your experiences with different media and techniques. The artwork created during these workshops may be used for your Breadth section. Your attendance to at least one workshop series per Quarter is required and totals 10% of your grade.

3. Create Your Own Pinterest Account

Create an Inspiration Board for you Favorite Art. Pin at least 20 different works of art that you like.

4. Participate in Critiques with Fellow AP Students
Critiques are an integral part of the art making process. Here you get much needed outsider perspectives and constructive advice about your work both finished and in progress.
